What is Restorative Yoga?

 

You know those days when you go to yoga and you wish it could just start with savasana, the final resting pose?

Yeah.......

Then Restorative Yoga is what you are really looking for.

Imagine doing a whole class on pillows and blankets! Using belts and blocks to lovingly support your body in sweet and gentle yoga poses. 

Yes, this is Yoga heaven :)

Here's how it works.

I will guide you through some simple warm up moves, like cat/cow in table position. After a few more simple movements, you will set up your props for the first pose. Keep in mind, that a 90 minute class has about 8 - 10 restorative poses because each pose is held for 5-20 minutes.

Each pose has a particular intention.

One might help you release anxiety and calm your mind. Another will improve digestion (or as my Italian side of the family call it, "Agita" - heartburn and a general feeling of being upset.) And one will release those tight hips and allow for a deep emotional release. Even melt away the pain from text neck and sitting in awkward positions at your desk with restorative yoga!

As you arrive in your pose, I will guide you through a deep relaxation of the body and mind so that your spirit feels refreshed! And the dis-stresses washed away!
